Regional economy meets on the web

Countdown for the first Digital Economy Summit 2020 Upper Palatinate on September 24th

In the Upper Palatinate everyone knows everyone, if you believe the common saying. But it is more important to know the right people, says Jacqueline Roscher, head of the OM Netzwerk agency in Weiden. This is especially true in difficult times and this insight led to the idea of the first Digital Business Summit Upper Palatinate 2020. Not much time was allowed for the implementation: The date is September 24.

The title of the event, moderated by radio presenter, book author and SME consultant Paul Johannes Baumgartner, is "Aufbruch statt Krisenstimmung" (Awakening instead of crisis atmosphere) - and it is precisely this awakening that OM Netzwerk would like to encourage. "It is important to stand together in the region, to inspire and learn from each other", says Roscher. The main goal of the summit is to support small and medium-sized enterprises in particular.

What does that look like in concrete terms? Roscher: "We want to push solutions and get people into action. The economic summit provides numerous suggestions for this. In addition, it is not a one-way street, as participants can ask questions that will be answered by experts during the event. Roscher hopes for synergy effects and sees Medienhaus Weiden as the perfect organizer, "because it is a multiplier and the voice of the Upper Palatinate".

The economic summit will focus on positive examples. One of them is MAB GmbH in Weiden, which started out as a contract manufacturer in 2011 and is now considered an innovative digital company. Since its foundation, the company has been able to grow dynamically with its focus on precision manufacturing and special machine construction, but the corona pandemic has brought completely new challenges. At the Paul Johannes Baumgartner Economic Summit, Managing Director Marco Bauer will be on hand to answer questions on how to master these challenges.

Among other things, Bauer will explain what qualities are now in demand, the importance of flexibility and how further orders can be generated. He does not gloss over the situation, but he also knows that it is possible to even strengthen his company through the crisis. MAB is a prime example of undaunted optimism, says Baumgartner. "And MAB shows how such an attitude positively shapes the future. It does not offer a blueprint for others, but can motivate and inspire enormously".
